(Yes, I frankensteined the phrase together). As I have been fairly lax in updating this, its time to speed through what I've been up to. So expect a few of these ! First up, pink butts.
Started on a 30k Daemons army! Gotta love some of those models and if 40k comes back to a good place it will serve me well.

Battle Bunnies Custodes fight, 3d printed Necromunda Lift, Ambots!
Have been loving the attention given to 30k at the weekender, and celebrated by playing my first game against a Custodes army with Darien from the Battle Bunnies.

SumpKroc, many Necromunda games played, Escher take to the field, Armigers are good in Heresy!
He’s green and mean and looks far too clean…Its Krocka my Goliath Sump Kroc! I’ve currently got 2 Goliath gangs running in 2 separate campaigns, and only just managed to afford this charmer in one.
Painting this guy was fairly easy, and I didn’t nearly apply as much attention as I should have (plus the camera washes everything out)

A third Horus Heresy force
Heresy lives, and thrives in fact. Bring in the Word Bearers...
So, while Necromunda is finally giving me that campaign progression that I've always wanted within 40k, I can honestly say that Heresy still is one of my favourite settings.
Yes, the lack of content may worry some, but in reality we knew the focus would shift.

Dark Mechanicus Thrall-Knight
It's finished! After having this black object hovering over my Dark Mechanicum's heads every time they march to war I thought it was time to finish.
Xi-112 will hunt.
This was not as challenging a task as I'd expected.Monday, 5 June 2017
Weekly Progress: Sons of Horus Rhinos and Squad + starting on the Knight
Quick one this week. I managed to get a lot of Sons of Horus churned through including these 2 boxes. Sadly, they aren't true to the period of the Heresy, but you gotta make do sometimes.
Lovely boxy-boxes.

Weekly progress: Big Sons of Horus Batch doooone, Sons of Sek tank
Nothing like chopping a load of work from your unpainted army. These 30+ guys were a 'delight' to get through.

Just Do it! The Process of Painting Pt2
BIG BATCH PAINTING BABY! I love a tip-list.
With my own burning advice in my ears, I realised the best way to get over a painting ‘hump’ is to target it in the best way, by chopping a chunk out of it. Solution: Batch painting.
In reality, on any scale, all painting is batched. Even on a single miniature you are trying to paint a single colour across multiple areas of that one piece. Rather than switching colours for each leg, pauldron, weapon, you paint all of the colours of the miniature at each level. Paint the base, paint the metals, paint the detail.

Arvus Lighter Conversion
I call it the 'Bug'.
That might be because its a 'bugabout' to get from A-Z, could be the mandible-like cabin, could be because its small and flits around the place, but for whatever reason, when I look at this thing I think 'Bug'

So while having a look at ways to expand my Mortalis set I realised that I liked the idea of a landing bay and the associated debris and things that would come with it (and will look to get the Forgeworld one). Central to any landing bay however is something landed! Here is my Mechanicum Shuttle, come Arvus Lighter, that I'm halfway completed.

Weekly progress; Sawing Realm of Battle boards. Sons of Horus Tactical Squad, Castellax and thralls.
This week, I've fallen in love with POWER SAWS!
A friend of mine requested some work for a project of his, whereby he was populating the inside of the tile of battle with actual scenery. Neither he nor I had the capacity to remove sections of the tile without cutting in from an edge. CUE POWER SAW. The realm of Battle board moulds are almost an inch thick in some places so heavy duty is needed. We were able to take the top off with a conventional saw, but the detail removal was important.

Just Do It! The Process of Painting Pt1
This week I wanted to address what I've found to be my own worst enemy sometimes, and I feel it could also apply to many fellow gamers too. The actual process of Painting.

5000+ points of Traitor Sons of Horus! (WIP)
That’s what I’m now up to, having won a great auction for 25 marines, and associated bits so I managed to successfully arrange all of the army. A grand total of 106 bodies to throw at my foes. These are all now either using Mk5 heads, or have a topknot bare head, or an archaic helm. Peppered throughout are around 30 sons of Horus shoulderpads, some converted combat kilts, lodge medals on strings, topknots and as many older generation armour marks as possible.

State of the desk; More Dark Mechanicus
This has been a dark winter. Long and filled with the ichor of corruption...
In an attempt to stop turning up to games with half or quarter painted miniatures I started to put more effort into getting the Dark Mechanicus completed. What that means is that I need to get cracking and get the correct bits completed in bulk.
Batches helps. In order of intent.

State of the Desk: mostly Dark Mechanicus
New toys! Dark Mechanicum 3 full squads completed.
As I’m used to Guard this was a nice change of pace to get 600 odd points painted relatively quickly.
