Photographing Miniatures; an untutored view

Last night I sat in the dark and took pictures of tiny people that live in my house.

Also known as…miniature photography! So, it turns out that I don’t know how to take nice photos of my miniatures for show. Pictures always come out slightly too bright, or with too much morphing of the colours. But where I have had success is when they’ve been in enhanced photos.

Bring on the tripods and the heavy weapons. These were the first batch of painted Sons that I tried to keep closer to the descriptions as given in the Gaunt books, whereby the black body armour they used had a glossy finish.

Previously I'd tried drybrushing over a black base, with highlights. 

However I didn't like the finish that it gave, though admittedly they looked decent on the battlefield. So this was recommended to me after seeing the glossy black sheen-shields upon the front of the Mechanicum Thallax shock troops (Drool)

Time and 'Tides wait for no man/Weekend games

Oof, some big games over the weekend. Big Riptide-heavy games. A 3k, 4k, and a 1.5k point games all in a short weekend.

Having ousted the wife to stay elsewhere, 2 of my gaming buddies came round to drink beer, eat chicken wings and play some 40k games (order optional). 

One (we’ll call him ‘Bave’) is a Tau and Ultramarines player, and the other (we’ll call him ‘Den’) has Tau and Blood Angels. Between them, my buddies have around 4500 points of Tau, this includes 4 Riptides and a R'vana. Playing my Marines with these guys before I’ve now accepted my tactics to dealing with the ever-present Riptides.

My newfound favourite tank; the Leman Russ Executioner. Painting this thing was fine, but playing it was massively fun. 

The above was me tinkering with my camera settings whilst waiting for some greenstuff to cure.
